Just wanted to do an update on our breakfast smoothie. You’ve seen the pictures here of the smoothies that Ken and I like to have for breakfast. Well, this morning I got up to make our smoothies and discovered that I didn’t have any frozen bananas. That could have been a disaster because the last time I made our smoothie without frozen banana, Ken said, “I can’t drink that!” Just flat out, “I can’t drink that!”
Well, I began rummaging through the freezer to see what I had. I used rice milk as usual, 1 tablespoon Maca, 1 Tablespoon ground flax, 1/2 cup frozen pineapple, 1/2 cup frozen peaches, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries and I added 2 deglet noor dates, pitted of course!
Wasn’t sure what the reaction would be, but I thought the smoothie was delicious! Kind of creamy in texture. I’ve often heard, Laura, I think from Michigan who is on the Eat To Live board, talk about putting dates in her smoothie. Thanks for the tip, Laura.
I watched Ken take a drink of his smoothie and there was no reaction. He drank some more and I asked him, “Well, what do you think about this smoothie without banana?” He looked shocked and said, “There’s no banana in here?” I told him I added the dates and he agreed that it was delicious.
So, again, don’t get into a rut with your smoothie. As long as you have the basics, mainly some kind of greens like spinach or kale you can put just about anything else you would like. I’ve also heard of people putting in chocolate and cherries along with the spinach, so be daring!

Gotta have the smoothies. Thankfully, we are beginning to get tasty organic California carrots again. So we are having 3 day’s of juicing carrot, celery, beet, ginger root, and apple. Then we have 3-4 days of smoothies and maybe a couple days of Rice Dream soaked old fashion oats mixed in.
